14 October 2020

As we get older our immune systems can weaken but you can with the tips below you can stay fit and healthy:

Get a seasonal flu jab

Getting a flu vaccination can help reduce the risk of infection. It’s quite simple and easy to do through your local doctor’s surgery.

Eat healthy foods

Eating fruit and vegetables rich in vitamins and minerals can help to boost your immune system. You might want to reduce intake of sugar, fat, and processed foods.

Manage stress

Gardening, reading, and meditating may help reduce stress levels. Chronic stress can lower your immune system make you more likely to catch viruses or cause illnesses.

Get 7-9 hours of sleep

Getting adequate sleep is important for all of us to improve brain function, concentration, and memory. Sleep also helps us respond better to stress and inflammation.

Keep physically active

Exercise strengthens your immune system. Walks and bike rides great forms of low impact exercises you can do outside. Exercising inside doesn’t have to be boring, there are plenty of ways to take part of classes with others by using apps like Zoom, and Skype.
